As
the two top Hoodia diet pill contenders
battle it out in the marketplace
the consumer is left wondering; which
are the best Hoodia diet pills on
the market? And which is the best
Hoodia product to suppress my appetite?
The confusion that surrounds buying
these herbal diet pills is tremendous.
As a first time Hoodia buyer you
just want to find the best Hoodia
at the best price, one that will
curb your cravings as advertised.
Many dieters are left saying, "just give me something
that works and that I can afford". Instead what you find is
page after page, hundreds of Hoodia
sites saying "mine is the best Hoodia"
and "theirs is the worst Hoodia",
"we have the Hoodia miracle diet
pills that are your fastest way to
lose weight". Wouldn't it be nice
for people trying to lose weight
if there was only one type of Hoodia
diet pill on the market, one Hoodia
diet pill that works and really does
help fight our nations obesity problem.
In reality there
are lots of Hoodia brands now competing
with new Hoodia sites popping up
all the time. Hoodia is the new diet
pill everyone is talking about, the
amazing fat smash diet product with
no side effects set to take the place
of Ephedra, or so the sites tell
me. But maybe you had not herd of
it until you came across it in a
search for the "fastest way to
lose weight" or a "natural
diet pill with no side effects". If this is the case there
are a few things you should know
about Hoodia before you get started.
You might be asking, why is having
many different brands of Hoodia confusing?
What you will soon find if you do
some Hoodia research before you buy
Hoodia is that
not all
Hoodia is the same there
are many factors to consider.
The biggest factor for most dieters considering a Hoodia supplement is, which Hoodia is better,
pure Hoodia 1:1 powder or a
Hoodia extract 20:1 and 10:1. Let's first define the difference between the two Hoodia products which each make up for about half the Hoodia supplements available. When we say
Pure Hoodia , we are referring to genuine Hoodia gordonii cactus from South Africa that is the actual uncontaminated Hoodia plant dried and ground into powder and put in capsules.
Hoodia Extract is usually in a 20:1 or 10:1 concentrate, what the 20:1 means is that they have taken 20 pounds of Hoodia and concentrated it through an extraction process to give you 1 pound of concentrated Hoodia. Now, at first look you might think that is an easy choice, the Hoodia extract is twenty times as strong as the pure powder, right. Well, here is where the confusion begins, some studies indicate that the active compound found in Hoodia called P57 may not do well in the extraction process and you may end up with little or no discernable P57 in the end Hoodia extract product. So although you have much more Hoodia to begin with, through the extracting process you could end up with less P57 than the pure Hoodia powder. I've noticed many brands of Hoodia extract also contain other weight loss ingredients which makes it hard to know if it's actually the Hoodia that is giving you your results in loosing weight.
Another condition that may effect Hoodia extract brands is that some advertise their extracts as having more P57 through the extraction process. This may infringe on the patent held by the Phytopharm company, they have registered P57 and it's right to use it in weight loss products. Phytopharm and Slim Fast together plan to release Hoodia weight loss products in a couple years. Because they cannot put a patent on the actual plant itself this may benefit the pure Hoodia brands if Phytopharm decides to start taking action to protect their patent.
The third factor to consider when examining Hoodia extracts is, if they are actually using 20 pounds of Hoodia to make 1 pound Hoodia extract can they afford to stay in business. From the reports on Hoodia in South Africa the Hoodia plant is actually endangered and the only Hoodia available for export is from registered Hoodia farms. There are very few of these Hoodia farms in South Africa, creating a very limited supply of Hoodia which in turn is pushing up the price. It has been stated that given the current price of wholesale bulk Hoodia a bottle of Hoodia extract with sixty capsules should actually cost around $200.00 USD, if this is the case something in the Hoodia extract formula is not adding up.
At
this time there is really insufficient
scientific data to come to many definite
conclusions with regards to which
Hoodia is the best. I'm sure as time
goes by we will start getting a clearer
picture of what works and what does
not. Until that time there are a
few other considerations for Hoodia
buyers to look at. 1) the companies
reputation, are they putting actual
Hoodia gordonii in their capsules
and not some other substance such
as ground rice. 2) Maybe they use
some actual Hoodia gordonii, so they
can be truthful that their pills
contain Hoodia, but it's only a small
percentage. 3) The company advertises
their product as Hoodia, but when
you look at the ingredients only
a small percentage is Hoodia and
the rest of the capsule is made up
of other weight loss ingredients
they deem useful for losing weight.
4) You need to know the origin of
the Hoodia you are buying because only South African Hoodia has
been shown to have results. Hoodia brands will sometimes give you
information about Hoodia and South Africa but don't' provide actual
certification that the Hoodia in their pills is South African.
Overall be wary of companies that don't advertise up front how
many milligrams of Hoodia their capsules contain, whether or not
it's certified South African Hoodia and if it is pure Hoodia powder
or a 20:1 Hoodia extract.
